This is the start of our new series highlighting the local chances for the upcoming $1.3million Kosciuszko in October.

We start with Jailbreak trained by Kody Nestor. Since winning the local Flying Handicap on Dubbo Cup Day in 2020, Jailbreak has gone on to win at Canterbury and place in the Western Country Championships Qualifier, The $200k Town Plate sprint in Wagga and another drum back at Canterbury.

This horse loves to get out to a lead and dictate the pace, as seen in his Canterbury win below.

Currently sitting at $26 in the TAB futures market Jailbreak has proven his metropolitan class and while perhaps not the favoured stable mate in the betting has shown he can run a winning race in impressive company.

More to come throughout the week as we highlight other Kosciuszko contenders from the area. If you’re lucky enough to draw a winning ticket you won’t have to look too far to find a local horse up to the task.
